Racist

These hand-knotted rugs shed light on the impact of systemic and structural racism experienced by marginalized communities. Through my installations and objects, I explore themes of displacement, migration, and identity, using furniture and objects as tools to reveal the political power of domestic spaces.

The rug with the word ‘racist’ woven into it is part of my broader practice and represents a literal approach to bringing difficult and uncomfortable subjects that are often swept under the rug to the forefront of public consciousness. By using a familiar and comforting object like a rug, I emphasize the insidious ways in which these issues can permeate even the most intimate aspects of our lives, confronting us with the uncomfortable truths that continue to affect marginalized communities on a daily basis.
