Barbed Wire

Barbed wire and its presence are more pervasive than ever, from border fences delineating nations to the perimeters of prisons and military zones, reflecting our increasing need for segregation, exclusion, and control. Not only does it create physical borders but also psychological and social borders affecting our bodies and minds.

This installation features three objects: a candelabra, an incense holder, and a sound system. These physical entities are constrained from accessing specific spaces, yet what they emit—light, sound, and scent—possesses a freedom that extends beyond these barbed wire boundaries, showing that sensory experiences transcend physical restrictions and that there is a realm of human experience that remains borderless.
