About Inderjeet Sandhu
With his multidisciplinary practice, Inderjeet Sandhu reimagines the home not merely as a space of domesticity but also as a political arena where personal, societal, and cultural dynamics converge. Rooted in his own bi-cultural upbringing within a Dutch-Indian household, he observes the interplay and clashing of cultures, both inside and outside the home’s boundaries. These experiences have raised questions about his own sense of belonging and the cultural facets that shape his identity. Inderjeet uses design as a medium to create objects that are imbued with contradictions, dismantling and reinterpreting the familiar elements of the home, with a specific emphasis on migration, identity, and displacement. As a result, these objects are deconstructed, reformed, and manipulated into building blocks for the construction of his metaphorical and physical ‘home’.
